Aside from receiving a premature birthday wish from the Hooters email club - (Hey Girl) - I am extremely excited for the 107th World Series featuring the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. The Cardinals are my local flavor from another life several years ago. I happened to be present for their Game 5 win over the Detroit Tigers in 2006 that secured a party in downtown St. Louis celebrating their 10th World Series Championship. The Rangers-well they have the John Wayne of baseball - Nolan Ryan. David Eckstein (not me) That 2006 team featured the dominating likes of Anthony Reyes (lost his first eight games of 2006 and has won a total of 13 MLB games-out of baseball currently) , Adam Wainwright (2011 disabled -Tommy John surgery this year for the Cardinals), Jeff Weaver (NOT Jared --and the one with a 6.20 ERA w/Seattle in 2007), World Series MVP David Eckstein (not me....although their is a couple in San Diego to this day that believe they met (ME) David in the Gasl...

Rangers Meet Lance Berkman and Allen Craig, Drop World Series Game 1 to Cardinals

Chris Carpenter came up big over six solid innings Wednesday night -- including a nice diving defensive play in the first for which Elvis Adrus deserves a thank you gift for not crushing the pitcher's right hand -- to help his St. Louis Cardinals earn a 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the World Series. After three scoreless innings pitched by both Carpenter...

Schumaker not likely to play much second base

Skip Schumaker may not see much time at second base during the World Series. With the Rangers' heavily left-handed rotation, not to mention Nick Punto's impressive defense at second base, it appears that Schumaker's role may be diminished.

Cardinals bold move pays off

ST. LOUIS Edwin Jackson sits in a large cafeteria, the bustle of World Series media day carrying on around him. He takes in the sight. Almost three months later, he has no regrets. Before July 27, when he was part of a trade that sent former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Colby Rasmus to the Toronto Blue Jays, the activity around the starting pitcher on Tuesday afternoon in Busch...

2011 MLB World Series: Do the Saint Louis Cardinals Have the Pitching To Compete with the Texas Rangers?

Jackson is going to have to step it up to give the Cards their best chance The Cards were able to get past the Brewers. Oh Those Base on Balls

The Cardinals beat the Rangers 3-2 in game one of the 2011 World Series. The difference in the game turned out to be the walks. The Rangers pitchers walked six batters, all by C.J. Wilson. The last one, in the sixth inning, brought up Allen Craig to pinch hit, and he delivered the game winning RBI. Wilson failed to go after Nick Punto, a career .249 hitter, and it cost the Rangers...
