Instead of losing a player to injury, the New York Mets decided to start this week out a little differently as David Wright made his long awaited Spring debut.  The 29-year-old third basemen suffered an abdominal tear during fielding drills prior to the start of Grapefruit league games but looked healthy on Monday afternoon.

Wright’s afternoon over. 1-for-2, nice diving play at third. Positive first step, I’d say. #mets about 9 hours ago via TweetDeckReplyRetweetFavorite @DPLennon David Lennon

In addition to watching Wright in game action for the first time this pre-season, fans also had their eyes on Johan Santana as the lefty made his fifth start of the Spring.  After a rough first inning, Johan settled down and finished off a strong month of March with another solid outing.

He was charged with two runs on four hits while walking three, hitting a batter and striking out five in five innings. about 9 hours ago via TweetDeckReplyRetweetFavorite @AdamRubinESPN Adam Rubin

And so the beat marches on for the Mets, who will need every bit of a healthy David Wright and Johan Santana if they’re going have a shot at a successful season.

What are the chances of that happening?  Well, most fans are skeptical and rightfully so, but it’s hard not to think that something eventually has to start going right in Queens.  I think New York has been incredibly patient when it comes to handling their injuries this Spring and hopefully that pays off when the season kicks off.  For now, having a line-up consisting of a healthy David Wright, Daniel Murphy, Ike Davis, and Johan Santana on April 5th would be a good start!

David Wright has been the subject of trade rumors since last season.  Over the past few years we keep hearing how he is not the same player he used to be.  When you really sit down and look at it, is he really that far off from what he was a couple of seasons ago? Freeman, Santana falling through cracks

Aside from minimizing risk and making disparaging remarks toward other owners' teams/sisters, finding value is one of the fundamental philosophies of a successful fantasy draft. Although a player's performance influences this notion, it's the surpassing of an individual's projected production that is essential to this premise. Case in point: Troy Tulowitzki's...
