Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez got a replacement for his lost gold medal that he earned with Cuba's Olympic team at the 2004 Athens Games. During a surprise presentation Friday, Ramirez was left emotional and momentarily speechless as he received another medal. Fellow countryman Jose Contreras, the star of the White Sox's 2005 World Series winner and currently on the Phillies' DL, showed up during stretching and, with the team gathered in the outfield, handed Ramirez a box with the replacement medal in it. The original medal had been lost or stolen while Ramirez and his wife were en route to Chicago before his first season with the White Sox in 2008. The White Sox eventually contacted the IOC and had a replacement medal made and shipped.

Chicago White Sox: Walk-off winner

It didn’t take long for newcomer Orlando Hudson to have a heroic moment. The Chicago White Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays were tied 3-3 going into the final frame. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and Dayan Viciedo on third, Hudson hit a game-winning single into center field and became the series savior. Alexei Ramirez received a wonderful surprise on Friday when he was presented with a replacement gold medal from the 2004 Olympics. 2012 Fantasy Baseball: What To Do With Adam Dunn?

Adam Dunn (credits below) After a horrendous down-year last season, Adam Dunn was written off as “declining,” and his fantasy value took a huge hit. It appeared as though he was headed towards the early decline that most power-hitting unathletic players head towards (steroid-era not included). Some of the more common (and lazy) reasons people came up with were that he couldn’t...

White Sox's Morel suffers setback in rehab

The news on the field Friday wasn't great for the Chicago White Sox, who lost 8-3 at home in an interleague game against the Houston Astros. The news off the field on the injury front was worse, with manager Robin Ventura admitting that there is something more going on with Brent Morel and his back issues, as Morel pulled himself out of Thursday's game with Class AAA Charlotte...

Konerko returns quickly from minor wrist operation

Paul Konerko continued to prove that he's a quick healer, and so did the Chicago White Sox, as they avoided a sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays. Not that Konerko didn't have a say Thursday in Chicago's 4-3 win, returning from a surgery to remove a bone fragment in his left wrist two days earlier than expected and going 2-for-3 with a run and a walk. Konerko...

Guillen warns Marlins' hitters: Get going or get gone

Manager Ozzie Guillen said his slumping players are on notice that they'll lose playing time or even get demoted unless they start producing. Guillen said the names of seven players were discussed during a 35-minute meeting with front office officials after Thursday night's 8-2 loss to Atlanta before the decision was made to send out outfielder Bryan Petersen. The Chicago White Sox's stellar history in interleague play took a minor hit in the opener of their weekend series against the Houston Astros.
