Xander Bogaerts‘ day has arrived. A day after being called up to the majors for the first time, the 20-year-old will make his Red Sox debut Tuesday night in San Francisco. Though he has spent the last few months honing his trade at third base, Bogaerts will start at shortstop, his natural position, as Boston looks keep rolling after routing the Giants 7-0 in the series opener. Boegarts will bat seventh in what will be a very unconventional lineup for the Sox. Catcher David Ross, in his first game in more than two months, will bat eighth ahead of starting pitcher Jake Peavy. Having played his first eight seasons in the National League, Peavy is no stranger to having to swing the bat. The man who occupied the No. 8 slot on Monday, third baseman Will Middlebrooks, has been shifted up to No. 5, while Mike Carp will start at first in place of David Ortiz and make a rare appearance in the cleanup spot. Check out the full starting lineups for both teams below. Boston Red Sox (74-53) Jacoby Ellsbury, CF Shane Victornio, RF Dustin Pedroia, 2B Mike Carp, 1B Will Middlebrooks, 3B Daniel Nava, LF Xander Bogaerts, SS David Ross, C Jake Peavy, RHP San Francisco Giants (55-69) Gregor Blanco, CF Marco Scutaro, 2B Brandon Belt, 1B Buster Posey, C Hunter Pence, RF Pablo Sandoval, 3B Roger Kieschnick, LF Brandon Crawford, SS Ryan Vogelsong, RHP Filed under: Boston Red Sox, Eastern Bank Leading Off, Headlines, NESN Staff
