A bit weird..considering the Mets are already tearing down Shea. Although..one is considered a baseball palace, and the other a junkyard. Most people want Shea to go, while Yankee Stadium will truely be missed.
from Peter Abraham (The LoHud Yankees Blog)
A few other tidbits from today's press conference:
The old Yankee Stadium isn't going anywhere until the summer. They'll be clearing out the area near the bat soon to make room for a pedestrian walkway to the new ballpark. But demolition of the old ballpark won't be "until midsummer" according to Lonn Trost.
Meanwhile, the Yankees and the city of New York still have yet to come an agreement on the sale of assorted crap memorabilia from the old Stadium. "We're negotiating," Trost said. "They have views and we have views. And they have attorneys and we have attorneys. We'll get it done."
