From George King:
With Ivan Nova getting spanked the past two outings and Freddy Garcia failing to provide consistent length, the Yankees’ rotation requires a boost.
That is expected to be supplied by Andy Pettitte, but general manager Brian Cashman can’t predict an exact date when the 40-year-old lefty will come off the disabled list.
“We have to let the healing...

Before I get to anything else I got some rather unsettling news for Toronto Blue Jays fans out there. Drew Hutchison underwent Tommy John surgery on Thursday and bluejays.com is reporting he won’t be at full strength until 2014. I don’t about you, but I wouldn’t be surprise if the Blue Jays will check out the free agent market in the off-season, looking for a best starting...
New York Yankees ace CC Sabathia was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with stiffness in his left elbow. Yankees manager Joe Girardi made the announcement after their 5-2 victory over the host Toronto Blue Jays. Sabathia was seen earlier with ice on his throwing elbow. Sabathia felt soreness in the elbow after his complete-game victory over the Seattle Mariners on Aug...
TORONTO -- Casey McGehee hit a three-run homer and Ivan Nova struck out 10 in 7 1/3 innings as the New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 before 45,582 at Rogers Centre on Saturday. The third sellout crowd this season in Toronto saw the fourth win in a row for the Yankees, who lead the American League and the fifth loss in a row for the Blue Jays, who are last in the...

The Yankees have signed right-handed pitcher Derek Lowe, reports Marc Carig of The Star-Leger. The 39-year-old was released by the Cleveland Indians earlier this week. Lowe has a 5.52 ERA in 21 starts (8-10) for the Indians this season, including an 8.80 ERA in his last dozen starts. Lowe has agreed to pitch out of the bullpen.
Because the Indians...
TORONTO -- The New York Yankees won their fourth game in a row Saturday by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 before 45,582 at Rogers Centre as Casey McGehee hit a three-run homer and Ivan Nova struck out 10 in 7 1/3 innings. But there was some bad news for the Yankees as well, as staff ace CC Sabathia was placed on the disabled list with inflammation in his elbow. The move...
Yankees Acquire Derek Lowe
The New York Yankees wasted no time finding another arm to pitch while C.C Sabathia is on the DL with elbow inflammation acquiring the 39 year old Derek Lowe.
Lowe was pitching for the Cleveland Indians before being designated for assignment on Saturday. He wasn’t pitching very well for the Indians in their rotation going 8-10 with...
DETROIT (AP) -- Mark Teixeira and Eric Chavez hit solo home runs on consecutive pitches in the eighth inning that put New York ahead, and the Yankees held on to beat the Detroit Tigers 4-3 Thursday.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi was ejected and threw his hat during a demonstrative argument with third base umpire Tim Welke after a fair-or-foul call in the fifth inning.
At the onset of this season, actually a few weeks prior, I made a series of predictions.El Duque scoffed. The re-branded MUSTANG did not write off my incantations.I predicted:1. Pineda would have arm surgery and not come north with the Yankees.2. The " top prospect " we also got in the Pineda trade would never pitch for the Yankees and, moreover, was used kleenex as...
