Even though he was drafted in the third round of the playoffs, Brett Gardner was never a highly touted prospect. The College of Charleston product worked his way through the system nonetheless and was in the major leagues to stay by the 2009 season. He was a regular outfielder the following year and good enough that Brian Cashman cited him as justification to not pursue All-Star Carl Crawford last offseason. EXPECTATIONS: The reason why the Yankees didn’t go after Crawford is because Gardner had far exceeded expectations the year before. He had to repeat that though otherwise fans would have turned on him and Cashman too. SLOW START: Gardner didn’t make things easy on himself as he hit just .145 with a .197 OBP and .503 OPS over the first 20 games. His defense was strong throughout, but it did carry over to his base running as he stole 13 bases, but was caught nine times. STRONG SUMMER: For a 104 game stretch from the end of April to the middle of August, Gardner had ...

A-Rod entertained by cartwheeling women

ARod is at it again this week at his Miami mansion where we now have meathead chicks doing handstands and cartwheels for Centaur. Paparazzi photographers hit the motherlode yesterday when ARod’s dream came true. A couple ladies were just running around like maniacs and the Yankees slugger couldn’t take his eyes off the ripped thighs. You might remember that earlier this...

Steinbrenner Speaks: Free Agents, Igawa, and the Budget

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner was at the GM meetings in Milwaukee on Wendesday and stopped to talk to reporters. Here is what he said via Chad Jennings of the Journal News: He said wouldn’t be surprised if the Yankees did or didn’t sign a big name free agent this offseason, adding that it was too early to tell. They will look to upgrade the rotation and add another...

New York Yankees Hot Stove: Cashman Signs Mets Lefty Reliever

According to Jon Heyman at SI tweeted that the New York Yankees have signed 31-year old, lefty reliever Mike O’Connorto what my Image by Getty Images via @daylife guess is a minor league deal. O’Connor pitched 6.2 innings for the New York Mets last season, where he gave-up five hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out eight batters. Before that O’Connor had not seen...

Yanks Invite Wilson To New York

From Marc Carig:Pleased with what he described as general manager Brian Cashman’s “aggressiveness,” C.J. Wilson’s representative said today the Yankees have extended an invitation to visit New York, where he would meet with some of the team’s top decision-makers. Wilson’s agent Bob Garber, who met with Cashman at the general managers’ meetings, refused to divulge...

Rumors: Yankees Think Prices on Wilson, E-Jax are Too High

The Yankees have been in contact with most of the big name free agent starters so far this offseason, but we are hearing that they don’t like the prices on C.J. Wilson and Edwin Jackson and are planning to wait to see if their demands drop, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated. This goes along with what we’ve been hearing this offseason. The Yankees are interested...

Just Another Day at the Pool With Alex Rodriguez and Muscular Chicks (Pictures)

Two days ago we showed you Alex Rodriguez with Ella Magers who is suppose to be his new girl. Yesterday these pictures were taken at his Miami home where some meat head chick was doing cartwheels for him all day. Apparently if you go to the pool with A-Rod you have to have an eight pack and be able to squat a car. Here are more pics of the little pool party. ...

Read: Dale Sveum’s Yankees Connection

Most Yankees fans don’t remember Dale Sveum. Heck, I barely remember him and I must have watched somewhere around 90 percent of the Yankee games the year he donned the Pinstripes. He did play for them though, on that amazing 1998 squad, he played in just 30 games at first and third base posting a terrible .358 OPS. His playing time was sporatic, most of the time you could...

Yankees Sign Left Handed Reliever Mike O’Connor

The Yankees have signed a left handed reliever Mike O’Connor to a minor league contract, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated. O’Connor, 31, has pitched just 120.2 innings over three seasons in the major leagues, most recently pitching for the Mets. Most of those came as a starter for the Nationals back in 2006. The Yankees have been burned by too many big...

Is This How You’d Be Spending Your Offseason If Your Career Was in a Downward Spiral?

We’ve always known that Alex Rodriguez is a moron, but dude come on. A-Rod was as easy of an out as you will ever see in the playoffs this year. I’ll repeat that; A-Rod was the easiest out in the history of baseball in the 2011 playoffs. Knowing that, what did A-Rod decide to do? Well, he sought out a new chick and decided to lay out. Great. A guy getting paid $30M a...
