New York Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson was activated from the 60-day disabled list on Friday. Granderson, who's been on the DL twice since spring training after being hit by pitches, started in left field and batted fifth Friday night against the San Diego Padres. To make room for Granderson on the active roster and the 40-man roster, the Yankees optioned Melky Mesa to Triple-A and designated Thomas Neal for assignment. Granderson was on the DL for a second time this season after breaking a knuckle on his left pinkie when hit by a pitch at Tampa Bay on May 24. He missed the first 38 games of the season after breaking his right wrist when hit by a pitch by Toronto's J.A. Happ in his first plate appearance of spring training on Feb. 24. Granderson said he can't think about the injuries when he steps into the batter's box. ''It's one of the things where I've been hit before,'' he said. ''It's not the first time; it definitely won't be the last. We've had some games down in minor league rehab where some balls were inside. I got hit running the bases. The ball's going to hit me at some point of time. I can't play scared or timid. Go out there and just leave it out there.''

Yankees tie series with Dodgers, fall back in standings

This short stint in Los Angeles delivered plenty of late inning drama as the Yankees and the Dodgers split a two game series where the Dodgers had more reason to celebrate as they moved into the record books with their win on Tuesday. The Dodgers walked off in the 9th inning on Tuesday after Mark Ellis (.281) hit a single off Shaw Kelly (3-1), scoring Andre Either. This win gave...

Alex Rodriguez Says ‘ People have been trying to get creative trying to cancel my contract’

Alex Rodriguez is back to talking again. Friday has come and gone, and with it Arod hasn’t been banned in perpetuity, nor has he even been suspended. Rodriguez spoke to the media after a rehab game, in which he homered on Friday and was all too candid. Arod confessed that he’s ready to start now and then went on to plant another seed in his conspiracy allegations. When speaking...

Curtis Granderson hit a two-run home run, his first since coming off the disabled list, and Ivan Nova dominated the Padres through seven impressive innings to lead the New York Yankees to a 3-0 victory against San Diego on Saturday night. Vin Scully calls a Mariano Rivera save and it's wonderful

The Yankees were visiting Los Angeles for an interleague series with the Dodgers which gave us a rare chance to hear Vin Scully call a Yankees game.  Last night, the Yankees were up 3-0 in the 9th which meant a chance to hear the greatest announcer in the game call the game's greatest ever closer on his grand retirement tour.  Thankfully, MLB has made the entire bottom of the...

Alex Rodriguez says he's fighting for his life. The embattled New York Yankees' slugger did not deny using performance enhancing drugs on Monday in a news conference after Major League Baseball suspended him through the 2014 season. He said he will talk about whether he used PEDs at another time when he is more free to speak. He did, however, dig in for a battle, saying...

Alex Rodriguez To Be Suspended Until End of 2014

Sources have told “Outside The Lines” that Alex Rodriguez will be suspended on Monday, likely through the end of the 2014 season. Talks with MLB Commissioner Bud Selig fell through when he refused to negotiate with Rodriguez’s side any longer. Rodriguez reportedly infuriated Selig by telling the media he had no interest in a settlement with Major League Baseball while his attorneys...

Even if A-Rod is banned for life, the Rangers still owe him more than $40 million

If Major League Baseball were to ban Alex Rodriguez for life because of performance-enhancing drugs the New York Yankees would get off the hook for nearly $100 million in future salary. The Rangers would not be so lucky.

Official Video: 100%, Arod expects to play Monday unless he's 'struck by lightning' or the pink elephant gets him

"My body's beginning to react the right way," he said. "I'm prepared to play five more years, especially the way my body is reacting. I feel like I can play, play for a long time, and...

Deal or No Deal

As the Biogenesis saga slogs on, Alex Rodriguez and his reps are seeking to make a deal with MLB instead of possibly facing a lifetime ban from baseball.  While this is not in the least shocking, it seems MLB wants to work out a deal with him as well.  One need look no further than the previous sentence to understand why baseball will never, ever be the same again.   Many...

At NJ Presser, Chatty Arod says he's Great and Flying to Chicago Today to join his Yankee Brothers

Reportedly Bud Selig is furious that a possibly delirious Alex Rodriguez continued to tell everyone he wasn't negotiating with Major League Baseball while he was negotiating with Major League Baseball and has cut off negotiations with a ban coming quickly (heard that before). Last night after another rehab game with New Jersey's Trenton Thunger -- A-Rod told reporters he...
