Yankees Drop 5 Straight, Look For Help From A-Rod

There have been a lot of problems with the new york yankees this in their first 28 games this season. The off-season money the Yankees spent on pitching has not been working-out for them so far, both Burnnet and Sabbathia both have ERA's over 4, and have combined for 3 wins in 12 starts. The batting has not been great either, and while the new, very hitter-freindly Yankee Stadium has helped the Yankees hit 23 dingers at home this season, star Mark Texeria is batting .198. The fact that A-Rod wil make his first start tonight isn't exactly helping them either.
Yes, there are many problems with the yankees that have caused this bad start to the season. But to put it in layman's terms, so far they suck.
The bullpen has been downright horrible, with the exception of Brian Bruney who has given up only 3 hits in 8 innings. Rivera blew a save in embarassing fahion last night, giving up back-to-back homers, a first for the aging closer. Edwar Ramirez looked good last year, but has managed to walk 11 batters in 11 innings and post a 4.30 ERA.
Tonight, the Yankees will have "ace" CC Sabbathia on the mound against the O's. With A-Rod returning from hip surgery, they will look to snap the 5-game skid and turn the season around.
Although this is not what you want to see as a yankees fan, it hasn't been all bad. There have been some very pleasant surprises, mainly Nick Swisher, who has 7 homers and a .405 OBP. Although Swisher has started to slip, his average hitting .267, he still looks good on the field. Another nice surprise was Phil Hughes, who has only had two starts, but looked good in his first one, and not-to bad in another loss to Boston in which he failed to get an offense behind him. Robinson Cano has been a very hot hitter, posting a .319 average and hitting 5 homers.
All in all, the Yankees are prone to getting off to bad starts for whatever reason, and with A-Rod's return i look for them to be taking a turn for the better.
