Lady Loves Pinstripes:
The Los Angeles Angels are supposedly shopping outfielder Vernon Wells, and the New York Yankees are rumored to be the team who is very interested.

Now why would the Yankees want Wells?
Well, here are some Wells- facts to sleep on:
- 2006 signed to a 7-year, $126 million contract with Blue Jays; is considered the worst contracts in MLB history, yes even worse than A-rod.
- Traded to LA in 2011 for Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera, it was deemed a terrible move.
- Wells still has 2-years and $42 million left on his contract.
- He went on the DL on May 21, 2012 and needed surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. Wells missed about 10 weeks.
- He is 34-years old, so he is no Spring chicken.
To say that Wells is on the decline is an understatement as he has been pretty much useless in LA. (more…)

At some point in the next few weeks, the Angels are going to trade either Peter Bourjos, Mark Trumbo or Kendrys Morales. Such is the domino effect of the Josh Hamilton signing and such is the Angels obvious need to upgrade their rotation. There are positives and negatives to dealing each of those three players but Peter Bourjos stands out from the trio.
Why, you ask (or not...

The Angels traded for a starting pitcher Wednesday, but perhaps the best part of that news for them wasthey didnt have to give up Peter Bourjos or Mark Trumbo to get him.
Left-hander Jason Vargas, a 14-game winner last season with the Seattle Mariners, was acquired in exchange for designated hitter Kendrys Morales, who made a successful return last season after missing all of 2011...
The Los Angeles Angels may not be done wheeling and dealing. One of the most active teams so far this offseason, the Angels have already landed Josh Hamilton and Ryan Madson, but they are not necessarily done. The team had received inquiries on Kendrys Morales in the middle of the 2012 season. At the time, Los Angeles didn't want to move him, but they may want to now...
Someone tell Brian Cashman that the return of Mariano Rivera and the acquisition of Kevin Youkilis as Christmas gifts for CC Sabathia just won't do.
Those two things are only stocking stuffers compared to what the New York Yankees big lefty really wants — a 'Doc McStuffins' doll.

With the recent monster signing of former Texas Ranger Josh Hamilton to a 5-year, $125 million contract it's become obvious the Angels are in "win now" mode harder than they've ever been before. Harder than they were last year when they spent $300 million on Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson. The Hamilton signing is nothing but amazing for the Angels, in the short...
Adjusted numbers released today for the New York Yankees end of year payrolls just made their wallet hurt that much more. Late last week the Yankees were said to have been hit with a Luxury Tax bill of $18,917,994 on an end of year player payroll of $222,512,928.

Derek Jeter is determined to rehab and return as the same player he was prior to his ankle injury. However, he is 38 years old, he'll turn 39 during next season, and he plays one of the more demanding positions on the field. The Yankees' captain has his work cut out for him.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have quickly fixed the logjam in their offense that was created when they signed Josh Hamilton by dealing designated hitter Kendrys Morales to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for starting pitcher Jason Vargas. The trade will allow the team to keep Peter Bourjos (who Jon Heyman predicted would now be the team's center fielder), along with getting...
The Los Angeles Angels have traded first basemen Kendrys Morales to the Seattle Mariners in return for starting pitcher Jason Vargas, according to a report on Twitter by Angels beat writer Alden Gonzalez.
Morales has spent the last six seasons with the Angels. He was sidelined in 2010 with an ankle injury that required surgery and made him miss all of the 2011 season. In 2012 he...

Perhaps aside from the Los Angeles Angels winning the Josh Hamilton sweepstakes the Toronto Blue Jays have without a doubt made the biggest splash in the MLB offseason.
