New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira had been targeting a return date of May 1. While he's steadily progressing through his recovery, the Yankees and Teixeira are "taking it slow," meaning May 1 could be a bit of an optimistic target, according to George A. King III of The New York Post. Teixeira initially suffered his wrist injury while warming up for an exhibition contest with Team USA during the World Baseball Classic. He's been sidelined since, and he only recently started taking dry swings. The Yankees were expecting Teixeira to resume hitting off a tee and taking soft toss at roughly this point, but he hasn't quite reached that phase of the recovery process. Once he hits this mark, the slugger will be able to ramp up his activity at New York's minor league complex. There was hope that he would reach this point by at least the end of the Yankees' three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays this week. This would allow Teixeira to remain in Tampa and increase his activity and rehab. But there's currently no timetable for hitting off a tee or working his way back to batting practice, so Tampa isn't an option. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

By bunting, Travis Hafner yesterday broke the sacred Yankee Sluggers Code of Grandxeira

In the ninth inning of yesterday's bullpen-fueled heart attack, new Yankee Travis Hafner spat upon a grand tradition that extends to the final whiffs of the Giambino Curse: Facing an overwhelming defensive shift - six fielders jammed onto the right side - instead of taking his normal cuts, the honorable strikeout for a Yankee slugger, Hafner laid down a bunt.Naturally, he was...

Did reverse juju save Dellin Betances' career last night?

Yesterday, the tortured Voice of Reverse Juju - Alphonso - called out the Yankee farm system, contending that the only reason it has a top 10 list of prospects is that is has 10 players. Don’t heckle the Yankees on the road, they’re watching you

The New York Yankees don’t want you heckling their bullpen, those guys have a hard enough time keeping a lead for Mariano Rivera to finish teams off. This isn’t too much of a problem at their home park, but they take it very seriously while the team travels, as Justin Jackson of Sportto Network pointed out after the Yanks visited the Blue Jays this past weekend: I and many others...
