The Yankees will be without 25-year-old right-hander Ivan Nova for at least two turns in the rotation. The Yankees placed Nova on the 15-day disabled list after an MRI exam showed inflammation in his rotator cuff. He was ordered to rest for at least the next five days and might need more rest after he's reevaluated. The Yankees were idle Thursday and did not make a corresponding roster move. Friday's projected starter, CC Sabathia, will be activated from the disabled list before the game. Nova's spot in the rotation is going to David Phelps, who has impressed since being moved from the bullpen. Nova has a 4.92 ERA with 139 strikeouts. He allowed six runs in a loss against the White Sox on Tuesday and said he felt a "grab" in his right shoulder. The Yankees could have Andy Pettitte (leg) back in the next two weeks.
