Via Kevin Goldstein of ESPN:
Ex Rangers reliever Warner Madrigal signs with the Yankees. Converted inf job that just almost worked.
Madrigal, 27 in March, has pitched a total of 48.2 innings over two seasons with the Texas Rangers from 2008-09. He has a career 6.10 ERA, a 5.0 K/9, and a 4.8 BB/9.
He’s a converted outfielder who has much better minor league numbers than major league numbers. In his career in the minors he has a 2.85 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, a 9.5 K/9, and a 2.9 BB/9. He seems like a bad pick up or a non-pick up, but if he can figure out how to translate those minor league numbers to the majors this might be a decent acquisition.
That seems like a pretty big if though.
