Not Feeling the Pettitte Signing

I love Andy as much as the next guy. It's been an absolute pleasure watching him come up thru the system and becoming one of the faces of the franchise. In his prime, I felt nothing but confidence when Pettitte was on the mound. That was then & this is now. This is the year 2012, he is turning 41 years old in June, and he has not pitched in the big leagues in over a...

In the post-George Steinbrenner era, Yanks evolve

Even in the parking lot of their spring training complex, the changes around the New York Yankees since the death of George Steinbrenner are evident. Power-washers that kept the area as clean as a hospital no longer are out at 8 a.m. every single morning at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla. Garbage cans are not emptied obsessively. Many workers report on time, not early. Will the...

AROD Wants to Exchange his Women's Clothing

Back on February 15th the ever socialy akward Alex Rodriguez rolled into Blue & Cream in New York City with his 20-year-old niece Michelle Silva and his girlfriend former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson.  Torrie and Michelle rang up a $17,600 bill (which is like $7 to you & I).  AROD paid using American Express Black card.  As The Mugs favorite paper the New York Post reported...

Yankees 5, Rays 2

Phil Hughes allowed only three hits - one, a two-run homer by Matt Jocye - in five innings, and the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 Wednesday. After walking Carlos Pena to lead off the bottom of the second inning, Joyce cranked a first-pitch cutter to dead center field for his third homer of the spring. But that was all the offense Tampa Bay could muster. Hughes, who...

Pirates 6, Red Sox 5

Nate McLouth hit his first home run of spring training, a two-run drive in the seventh inning Wednesday that helped the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Red Sox 6-5. Jon Lester, in his first outing since Boston said he will start on opening day, allowed four runs and eight hits in three innings. He has a 5.73 in three starts. Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit his first home run of the...

McCutchen homers in loss to Yankees

Final: Yankees 10, Pirates 3 WP: Mariano Rivera (1-0, 0.00 ERA) LP: Erik Bedard (0-1, 6.23 ERA Andrew McCutchen looks like he’s ready for the season. He went 2 for 3 with a 2-run shot off Michael Pineda in the 1st inning. I am really excited about Cutch’s 2012 season and will have an article up tomorrow morning about just that. Erik Bedard gave up 4 runs over 3 2/3 innings. He...

Bucs catch a break with addition of Barajas

The Pirates needed a veteran catcher to help the pitching staff coming into the 2012 campaign, that's what they believe they secured in Rod Barajas. The 36-year-old veteran is entering his 14th major league season with his seventh club and has played 1,010 games in the majors. PiratesDugout.com's George Von Benko spoke with Barajas recently.
