i don't think that's quite accurate. Yankees didn't want to give up Hughes and Kennedy. They think Hughes will win a Cy Young someday. They just weren't going to add Kennedy when they had already put Hughes on the table. I'm glad they are all staying.

i think this info has more to do with making teams think the yankees value kennedy more than hughes and chamberlain -- thereby increasing any potential trade value for kennedy even higher. i think if you ask any baseball "experts" they'll agree that chamberlain and hughes are considered to have the "higher ceiling", talent-wise. i wouldn't believe all the "smoke and mirrors" that the yankees create on a daily basis.
