According to Anthony McCarron and the New York Daily News, the Yankees have checked in on left-handed hitting outfielder Grady Sizemore. However, the Yankees main priority is to add a righty outfield bat before the season starts. Cashman is perhaps looking for some insurance. Sizemore, 30, would likely come at a low price, thanks in part to his history of injuries, and would probably only be looking for a minor league deal. According to the Daily News, Sizemore wouldn’t become an option for the Yanks until about midseason, since he doesn’t plan on signing a deal until he fully recovers from micro-fracture knee surgery; Sizemore hasn’t appeared in the majors since September of 2011. Sizemore is a three-time All-Star who once  was well on his way to becoming one of the game’s premier, young outfielders with the Cleveland Indians, the team he made his debut with in 2004. Injuries have plagued him though, as he has played in just 210 games since 2009. Clearly, Brian Cashman is exploring every avenue to help improve this 2013 Yankees team. A right-handed outfield bat is his priority right now, though.
