The Yankees have brought back a familiar face, coming to terms with righty Chien-Ming Wang on a  minor league deal, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman. Wang will likely serve as an insurance policy down in triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Wang, 32, was heavily scouted by the Yanks during the WBC where he pitched for his native Taiwan, throwing 12 shutout innings. After being invited to tryout for the team at their complex in Tampa, Fla., Wang will now be heading back to the Yankees for his second stint in pinstripes. Originally signed in 2000 as a 20 year-old, Wang was once the ace of the Yankees staff, going an impressive 38-13 from 2006-2007. He seriously injured his foot while running the bases in Houston in 2008, and hasn’t been the same since. After suffering arm injuries and missing all of 2010, Wang latched on with the Washington Nationals, where he went 6-6 with a 4.94 ERA over two seasons. For his Yankee career, Wang has a record of 55-26. He should be a valuable asset to fall back on in case a starter gets hurt. Hopefully for he and the Yankees, a return to old scenery can get his career back on track.
