Yoenis Cespedes will join Robinson Cano on the American League’s Home Run Derby team, but it sounds like the two won’t be sharing an agent any time soon.
Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan reported that Jay-Z, a hip-hop mogul who recently started his own sports agency, was interested in signing Cespedes and Dodgers rookie phenom Yasiel Puig. Cespedes shot down the idea of joining Jay-Z’s agency, though, and instead expressed satisfaction with the work done by his current agent, Adam Katz.
“I don’t care what it says on the Internet,” Cespedes told the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, with a photographer translating. “I’m staying with Adam. I am very happy with Adam and with the work he’s done for me. I am very happy to work with him.”
Cespedes was recently selected by Cano, who is represented by Jay-Z’s agency, to join the AL Home Run Derby squad. Cespedes has 15 home runs and 43 RBIs to go with a .224 average for the A’s this season.

Two Chevrolet Silverado’s were placed in center field at Citi Field and while twitter argues over which balls actually hit the truck there was no doubting that Yoenis Cespedes smashed the windshield. While the smash happened in the second round, Cespedes actually hit enough home runs to qualify for the finals in the first round but his second round was enough to earn the American...

For Oakland A’s fans that have never ventured to a visiting park, tonight is the first opportunity to watch a true marvel — a Yoenis Cespedes batting practice session.
Granted, it’s not the same as those BP sessions at O.co Coliseum, being thrown by Manager Bob Melvin, but it’s the next best thing. Well, technically, given the spotlight which Cespedes routinely shines in...
It’s been a very long time since an Oakland Athletic won the Home Run Derby, but Yoenis Cespedes did just that on Monday night. With the baseball world watching, the A’s star outfielder crushed 32 home runs deep into the Citi Field night over the course of his three rounds en route to a victory (as predicted by BSN’s Brandon McClintock).
His performance, aided by BP pitcher...
Oakland A’s outfielder Yoenis Cespedes hit nine home runs in the final round to beat Washington’s Bryce Harper to win the 2013 Home Run Derby from Citi Field in New York. Cespedes’ final home run was a 455 foot shot to centerfield in which he capped off with a pretty sweet looking bat flip. [...]

And so, Bryce Harper put on a good show in his first MLB HR Derby...but Yoenis Cespedes was even better in his. Cespedes wins 2013 HR Derby over Harper. Good show.
Still, Cespedes' hair didn't hold a candle to Harper's.

Monday night, Yoenis Cespedes wowed the Citi Field crowd, using 17 first-round homers and nine final-round slams -- including an absolutely devastating parting shot -- to beat out seven other star sluggers in a riveting Home Run Derby.
Hopefully, the NBA was watching, because it probably could have learned something.

Bryce Harper and Yoenis Cespedes showed us that the future of the MLB is incredibly bright when they battled it out in the final round of the Home Run Derby on Monday night. Cespedes may have won the event with a towering home run and an epic bat flip, but the highlight of my night [...]
After checking ESPN.com, it looks as if Yoenis Cespedes of the Oakland A’s hit more long fly balls over the wall than fan-favorite Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals.
The reason I had to check ESPN.com (and don’t ask why I chose ESPN.com, bad habits I guess) was because I had absolutely zero interest in watching the Home Run Derby. Here are five reasons why I did not watch...
IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!
Is he a steroid user AND a child abuser?
He wasn’t officially named baseball’s best slugger, but Bryce Harper made the Washington Nationals proud in his first Home Run Derby appearance, finishing second to Yoenis Cespedes.
Harper hit eight home runs in all three rounds, finishing just one shy of Cespedes' nine in the final round. Cespedes clinched his victory with five outs to spare as his ninth home run sailed...
Scott Boras, you over baby
Robinson Cano, you coming with me
These n***s is like rotary phones
It’s a new day, hit up KD
I don’t think Boras is overly concerned, but for those who are wishing for Jay-Z’s downfall in the sports agency world, it seems more and more that will be highly unlikely.
