It is not often we dive deep in to the realm of D3 college football, but every now and then there are moments that thrill on any level. A game between the Colby Mules and Bowdoin Polar Bears, rivals for 125 years and counting, was tied at 20-20 with 12 seconds to play when Bowdoin quarterback Mac Caputi launched a Hail Mary pass to the end zone from near midfield, where it bounced off a Colby defender and in to the arms of Bowdoin receiver Daniel Barone. The touchdown gave Bowdoin the 26-20 lead with just three seconds to play, but the extra point attempt was blocked by Colby and returned by Jason Buco for two points to make it a four-point game. At this stage of the game though Colby still needed to score a touchdown for the win, so with just three seconds to play you know a series of laterals is about to unfold on the ensuing kickoff. It did, but Bowdoin broke up the laterals by intercepting one of the backwards passes and returning it for one final cherry-on-top touchdown. That intercepted lateral was taken back for a touchdown by senior linebacker Brian Glazewski. It was the final play of his collegiate career, which has to be one of the coolest ways to wrap up a collegiate career outside of winning a national championship. Glazewski was named the Defensive Player of the Week in the New England Small College Athletic Conference for his effort. Bowdoin led the game entering the fourth quarter, 14-6. The final three seconds of the game does not even tell the whole story. Colby had actually tied the game at 20-20 in the final minute of the game, with Colby quarterback Justin Ciero tossing a short three-yard touchdown pass to Glenn Parsons with 51 seconds left in the game. So this game actually had three touchdowns and a blocked PAT returned for two points all in the final minute of the game. Colby ended their season with a record of 4-4. Bowdoin ended the year at 3-5.
