ARLINGTON No one in the Rangers clubhouse seemed more stunned than Michael Young Friday night. But he won't blame the 5-1 wild-card loss to the Baltimore Orioles or the second place finish in the division on running out of gas. "We've been in this situation before," Young said in front of his locker. "We knew what it took. I just think we got away from our style of play." How so? "Well we had the personnel in here to get it done," Young responded. "It felt like the will was there, the effort level was there but it was almost like the harder we tried the more we couldn't get into the rhythm of the game. We couldn't get it flowing like we normally do. Obviously, that's very disappointing. This is the time of the year where we really feel like we play our best ball. We've done it for the last couple of years and we weren't able to do it this season." Asked if he was surprised by the abrupt end to the season, Young...

Hamilton jeered in possible finale with Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas Josh Hamilton did a lot of talking in past tense following his Rangers' 5-1 season-ending loss to the Orioles. The five time All-Star played what could have been his final game with the Rangers, and it was one he'd like to forget. It won't be easy. Hamilton went 0 for 4 and struck out twice. He saw just eight pitches at the plate and any chance at...

Does Hamilton have future in Texas?

So this is how it ends for Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers. A rally-killing double play. An anxious strikeout. Boos. A first-pitch comebacker. More boos. Tepid applause before he stepped in as the tying run in the eighth inning of Friday night's American League wild-card game, one last chance at the redemption that never came. Three pitches. Two swings. One more strikeout...

Rangers OF Hamilton keeping free agent options open

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who will be a free agent, said he would love to return to the team but his decision will be led by God. The devoutly religious Hamilton has been scrutinized for his play lately. He was booed during a 0-for-4 game Friday as the Rangers were eliminated by the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 in the American Wild playoff. "You hate to have it happen...

Hamilton felt no pressure in final weeks

ARLINGTON Throughout the last few weeks, the argument can be made that Josh Hamilton hasn't appeared interested in playing baseball. The five-time All-Star outfielder who hit .395 in April and drilled 12 home runs in May, cooled during the second-half of the season and plummeted during the final month. The Rangers' 5-1 wild-card loss to the Orioles Friday night saw Hamilton...

Texas Rangers reliever Mike Adams didn’t make the team’s 25-man roster for their one-game playoff against the Baltimore Orioles, and his status remains uncertain if the team is able to advance to the American League Division Series, reports Scott Crisp of NBCDFW.com: “My neck actually feels pretty good,” said Adams, per the Dallas Morning News. “But the symptoms of...

Texas Rangers: Could Wild Card Loss To Orioles Be The Last Time We See Josh Hamilton In A Rangers Uniform?

The Texas Rangers could look a bit different in the 2013 MLB season, having suffered a bit of a collapse to end the 2012 season. It culminated in the Rangers losing at home in the new wild card play-in game to the Baltimore Orioles. It may very well have been the final time we ever see Josh Hamilton wearing a Rangers uniform.Hamilton put up some solid numbers once again in 2012,...

Welcome to our world, Texas and Atlanta, the world where losing breeds angry consequences

Last night, the great American feelgood story of the new millenium, Josh Hamilton, came to bat for what might be his final appearance in a Rangers costume. He fanned and walked away under a spit-shower of boos. (His shower of real booze, presumably, comes later.)Three hours earlier, the delightful Southern hospitality suburb of Red State America, Atlanta, showered debris across...

AL Wild Card preview: Orioles vs Rangers

If I would have told you six months ago that the Rangers and Orioles would be in the AL's Wild Card playoff game, I bet you would have imagined that the Angels ran roughshod over the AL West, and that two out of the three top contenders in the AL East had a massive breakdown. Well...that's sort of accurate. But at any rate, here we are, with the Rangers and Orioles and their...

Three Keys to a Rangers Win

So, after a historic collapse, it all comes down to tonight. One game against the Baltimore Orioles for the rights to play the New York Yankees in the ALDS. I couldn’t imagine a better situation for tonight’s game. Yu Darvish is pitching for Texas, and the Orioles have never faced him. On the other hand, [...] Related posts: Texas Rangers’ Week In Review — 5/7/12 Rangers...
