Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. While some might see Kyle Lohse as a fit for the Red Sox given their financial flexibility, it is “highly unlikely” that Red Sox will be the team to sign him, a major league source tells Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.  Boston had some interest in Lohse earlier in the offseason, but that was before they signed Ryan Dempster. Predictably, the Red Sox aren't keen on Lohse in part because of the draft pick compensation tied to him.  Besides that, they already have a starting five in place with Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, John Lackey, Felix Doubront, and Dempster. MLBTradeRumors: Sox unlikely to go after Lohse Oh thank Jesus! The Sox made the right decision in signing Ryan Dempster over Lohse as the overpaid pitcher who is dominant in the NL but "meh" in the AL. Lohse has been looking for about a four or five-year deal after putting together two quality seasons with the Cardinals. Would you want to give 34 year old Kyle Lohse a deal similar to John Lackey's? Yeah, me neither. Having to pay a little above market value for Dempster and get him for two years is much more aligned with what the Sox are trying to accomplish. Lohse will get his payday and it will probably be with the Cardinals as they're unsure if Chris Carpenter will ever pitch again. It'll be the best for him as he could very well have a few seasons similar to what he did in 2011: 14-8, 3.39 ERA, 1.168 WHIP. I'm glad that the Sox are sticking to their guns and not trying to sign long term deals as this one had all the potential of blowing up in their faces.
