Every morning, well most mornings and sometimes in the afternoon, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

“Terry Francona is a Hall of Fame manager,’’ said Damon. “I loved playing for him. I wish I could have played for him more years. I’m glad he’s taking this year off because I know how tough playing in Boston and managing in Boston is. He deserves to take a break.’’

Damon also had some advice for Ortiz: Sign with the Yankees and take advantage of that right-field porch at Yankee Stadium.

“Shoot, I was trying to tell him if he went to New York his 30 home runs turns into 40,’’ Damon said. “He still has a great chance to win. I’m happy I got to experience both sides [of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry]. Both sides were very incredible for me.

“What people don’t understand is that there’s a business part of it. As a player, I wish I could have been in Kansas City my entire career. But once you get traded, you get to thinking and you accept whatever comes your way and you try and make whatever team you’re on better. David can do that.

“As a baseball fan, I would love to see him stay in Boston. But being a part of it, I know there may be some opportunities and less drama elsewhere.’’

Globe: Damon says pinstrips would suit Ortiz

What the hell is wrong with Johnny Damon? Implanting the devil's plan into Ortiz's head, to sway him toward the dark side in the Bronx. That wouldn't be a good fit for him, because it just isn't. Sure he could have recorded 10 more home runs per season if he had the little league fence in right, but he would have been a douchebag because he would be a Yankee, and that just plain sucks.

At least Johnny Damon had one logical thought when he called Terry Francona a Hall of Fame manager. There is no question that his tenure with the Sox has placed him in a class with the elite and a Hall of Fame election seems like a no-brain-er.

Damon was in the Dominican Republic to play golf for charity and he had to go screw everything up by saying New York could be a good fit for Ortiz. F**kin' idiot.
