Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. First baseman Mike Napoli is expected to return to the Red Sox’ lineup for at least one game of Tuesday’s day-night doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays. Napoli came out of Thursday’s game in Baltimore in the third inning because of an illness and missed the remainder of the four-game series. The Sox sent him back to Boston Saturday to be examined by team doctors. Manager John Farrell said Sunday he was hopeful Napoli would be cleared to play on Tuesday. On Monday, Sox officials said that would be the case. Napoli is hitting .262 and is tied with David Ortiz for the team lead with 49 RBIs. Globe: Mike Napoli returning to Red Sox I'd like to think that his recent dizziness contributed to his strikeouts, but then I remembered he's Mike Napoli. Either way, the Red Sox are inserting a much-needed power bat back in the middle of their lineup. Prior to Napoli departing with his illness, he was only 4 of his last 22 at-bats. He also hasn't homered since June 1st in New York, which is pretty remarkable given his team-leading 49 RBIs. I got a good feeling though. Napoli is seemingly rested and returning to his binkie of a park at home against a divison rival in the Rays; all a recipe to turn things around at the plate.
