JUAN MIRANDA RUMORS & GOSSIP

Juan Miranda: Déjà vu All Over Again

Rays fans are accustomed to seeing Andrew Friedman finding bargain after bargain each Winter and taking chances on undervalued players who end up being pivotal members of the Major League squad. The recent signing of Juan Miranda to a minor league deal with a Spring Training invite brings back memories of a former Ray who came to the team under similar circumstances...and flourished.

New York Yankees Make Some Moves

The New York Yankees are stirred the pot on top of the Hot Stove a little bit today.  It’s not the main course (i.e. Justin Upton or Cliff Lee) but they are moves worth mentioning nonetheless. I’ll start with the Juan Miranda trade.  The Yankees sent Miranda to the Diamondbacks in exchange for 19 year-old RHP Scottie Allen.  We can talk about Allen in a second, but...

Quick Scouting Report of New Yankee Scottie Allen

The Yankees traded first baseman Juan Miranda to Arizona today and got a 19-year-old right handed pitcher named Scottie Allen in return. I didn’t know anything about him, but I did find this brief scouting report via Baseball America: Allen throws four pitches, three of which grade as average at times, but lacks the one dominating offering to put batters away. He sinks...

Yanks Trade Juan Miranda To Arizona For Scott Allen

Allen, a 19-year-old right-hand pitcher, was drafted Arizona in the 11th round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft. He spent the 2010 season Single-A South Bend for the Diamondbacks. In 16 starts Allen went 4-4 with a 4.73 ERA.I guess this was the small move Brian Cashman was talking about a few days ago.

Yankees Trade Juan Miranda to DBacks for RHP Scott Allen

The Yankees traded first baseman/DH Juan Miranda to the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Scottie Allen according to the Yankees PR Department. This was probably the minor deal Brian Cashman was talking about earlier in the week, not the Rafael DePaula move. Miranda was signed out of Cuba in 2006 and despite putting up decent numbers in the minors never really got a chance in...

Now Juan Miranda Gets Called Up

Yankees minor league first baseman Juan Miranda would probably be in the major leagues if he were on at least 15 other teams around baseball, but he’s a Yankee and stuck behind Mark Teixeira. It did make for interesting news the other day when he was almost called up only to find out that it was outfielder Greg Golson who was called up instead. Now, according to Chad Jennings...

Yanks Call Up Miranda (seriously this time)

Chad Jennings is reporting that Juan Miranda has been called up, is with the team, and "Has a locker and everything." No word on any corresponding moves, my guess is Russo heads back to SWB.

Golson, not Miranda, called up

Instead of recalling Juan Miranda, as Joel Sherman speculated yesterday, the Yankees have opted to bring up Greg Golson. “We’ve been short on outfielders,” Joe Girardi said. “And we felt we were covered pitching-wise,” he added. Miranda will likely still be recalled, but it probably won’t be until later this week, at the earliest.

Golson Up, No Sign Of Miranda

There have been reports going around for two days now saying the Yankees were going to call up Juan Miranda. Today, Chad Jennings is reporting that Greg Golson, not Miranda, is with the team and is listed on the lineup card as a bench player.Golson is likely going to take Alfredo Aceves' spot on the roster. Not sure if these means they've nixed their plans to call up Miranda...

Yanks Call Up Juan Miranda

According to George A. King III, the Yankees have called up 27-year-old left-handed hitting first baseman Juan Miranda and he's expected to be at the ballpark in time for tonight's game. With right-hander Rick Porcello on the mound for Detroit, King speculates that Miranda could start tonight at DH. He also says it's likely that Kevin Russo will be sent down, which makes...
