Adam LaRoche hit two towering home runs and Chad Tracy's solo shot in the 10th inning lifted the Washington Nationals to a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night.
Tracy's seventh career pinch-hit home run negated a blown save from closer Rafael Soriano, who gave up two runs with two outs in the ninth.
The Padres tied the game with three straight singles....

Nats' Ryan Zimmerman, Chad Tracy have surgery
Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo says third baseman Ryan Zimmerman had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder and is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.
Team doctor Wiemi Douoguih performed the operation Thursday. Rizzo says Zimmerman ''will be full go'' in six weeks.
Zimmerman was bothered by the shoulder during the season and had cortisone...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chad Tracy singled in the 13th inning to score Danny Espinosa and lift the Washington Nationals to a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.
The win gives first-place Washington a six-game lead in the NL East, while Atlanta lost its third straight.

Nationals' Tracy requires surgery for groin injury
Washington Nationals infielder Chad Tracy will require surgery for a torn groin muscle and is expected to be sidelined at least six weeks and perhaps longer.
Tracy, who leads the major leagues with nine pinch-hit RBIs, was hurt Saturday. A specialist in Philadelphia determined surgery was necessary after Tracy had an MRI Tuesday, and the operation will be performed Thursday.

Nationals PH Tracy goes on DL with groin injury
Washington Nationals infielder Chad Tracy, who leads the major leagues with nine pinch-hit RBIs, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a groin injury.
The Nationals selected the contract of outfielder Corey Brown from Triple-A Syracuse, and he joined them for Monday's game at Miami.
Tracy was hurt Saturday against Atlanta, and he's scheduled to undergo an MRI...
