Carrasco DFA, Carson up; message Wright's team...

Photo by Michael BaronMets designated D.J. Carrasco for assignment last night, Carrasco's entire tenure as a Met was ineffective and he really should have been cut this winter. The Mets signed the reliever prior to the 2011 season after three successful years with the White Sox, Pirates and D-Backs.  Originally the 2.4 M deal for 2years made sense, he was a versatile reliever...

Change Is Coming: Carrasco DFA’d, Carson Likely

After another loss from ineffective bullpen pitching, the Mets desginated DJ Carrasco for assignment after last night’s game. When the Mets were winning a ton of games in a row, the bullpen was acting as well oiled machine. However, sandwiching that streak was two bouts (and we are still in the second one) of a rather rocky bullpen. There are several players that Mets Fans, myself...

Mets Release D.J. Carrasco

Sandy Alderson has only made two multi-year free agent signings as Mets GM. The first of those was reliever D.J. Carrasco, who was finally released after parts of two dismal seasons. Frank Francisco was the other beneficiary of a multi year deal, after being signed to a $12 million, two year deal in the Winter. Carrasco’s release came soon after he served up a two-run homer...

Mets designate struggling Carrasco for assignment

D.J. Carrasco thought about the question and acknowledged it was fair to wonder. But after giving up his second home run in as many nights, he thought the New York Mets designated him for assignment following Wednesday's game due to his performance, rather than any lingering feelings from Tuesday night's incident against the Milwaukee Brewers. "I don't think...

Carrasco designated for assignment, Robert Carson recalled

It’s hard to take anything good away from the New York Mets loss on Wednesday night, but if you were looking for a silver lining, the fact that we may have finally seen the last of D.J. Carrasco would be a good place to start.  After giving up a 2-run homer to Todd Frazier in the 8th inning of yesterday’s loss to the Cincinnati Reds, Terry Collins and company had apparently...

Mets manager fears the unwritten rules of baseball

In last night’s Brewers victory over the Mets, things got quite interesting. In the 7th inning, Rickie Weeks hit a solo homerun, giving the Brew Crew an 8 to 0 lead. With the next pitch, Mets’ reliever D.J. Carrasco plunked Ryan Braun. For his actions, Carrasco was ejected. Okay, so here’s where the story takes [...]

D.J. Carrasco called up; Bobby Parnell drawing interest

Well the Mets ended their four game losing streak last night with Johan Santana on the mound. He gave them seven solid innings of work, and the bullpen managed not to blow the lead in their two innings of work. The Mets are 14-13 this year despite having one of the worst team ERA’s in the league. They are currently ranked 24th in the league with a 4.48 team ERA. Their starter’s...

Mets Activate Carrasco From DL, Option Valdespin to Buffalo

The Mets have activated D.J. Carrasco from the disabled list. Carrasco began the season on the DL after twisting his ankle in a Spring Training game. Carrasco is coming off of a down season in which he went 1-2 with a 6.02 ERA in 49 innings pitched. To make room for Carrasco on the roster, the Mets optioned IF/OF Jordany Valdespin to Triple-A Buffalo.

Explanation on Carrasco

Photo by Michael BaronMost of us would have liked to have seen D.J. Carrasco on waivers before FMart even if FMart ended up on waivers at some point. The reliever really didn't show much last year posting a 6.02 ERA. I can understand keeping him around to see what he looks like in camp since your paying him 1.2M but not instead of FMart. Even if I thought I would eventually cut...

Could The Mets Cut Carrasco loose?

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York says that the Mets still need to clear two spots from their full 40-man roster to make room for recent signings Scott Hairston and Ronny Cedeno who both signed major league deals that have yet to be officially announced. Rubin lists the players in order of vulnerability of who the Mets may cut: RHP Armando Rodriguez RHP D.J. Carrasco RHP Jeremy...
