After Slow Start Stephen Drew Is Settling In With Red Sox
After a DL stint and a slow start Drew has settled in nicely
When the Red Sox signed Stephen Drew in the off-season on a one-year deal it drew quite a bit on skepticism from Red Sox Nation. The Sox remembered his older brother J.D. who made $14 million over 5 slightly above average seasons in Boston. Drew was not the type of player that the Red Sox fans generally embrace, particularly...
Baseball-Playing Robot Created by Scientists in Japan Adjusts to Pitch Speed (Video)
If you thought J.D. Drew didn’t show enough emotion while with the Red Sox, wait until you see this slugger.
Scientists at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo created a baseball-playing robot that can adjust to pitch speeds. The robot has an artificial brain that reads the speed of a pitch as it’s coming at him. It can adjust to each pitch individually.
So far the...
Stephen Drew Criticism Unfair, Especially When Skeptics Unreasonably Turn to Family Ties
Whether it’s just his last name or a sense of Deja Vu, Stephen Drew has already gotten a bad rap among many Red Sox fans, and it’s unfair.
Now, let’s be clear. Not all Sox fans are hating on Drew, as many are excited for the offensive potential he’ll bring to the Boston lineup upon his return. A quick scan of some comments sections, message boards and various social media...
Don Orsillo, Jerry Remy Break Down ‘Pizzagate,’ Jenny Dell Gives Insight Into Her Cooking Experience (Audio)
Who can forget “Pizzagate?”
It was the seventh inning of the Red Sox’ Patriots’ Day tilt with the Angels back in 2007. J.D. Drew hit a popup down the left-field line that landed in the first row. In addition to a fan spilling beer all over the place, a rather bizarre event took place. A different fan a few rows back took it upon himself to toss a slice of pizza at the fan...
Clay Buchholz injures hamstring to kick off spring training
Sorry about the pic of J.D. Drew. It is just instinct to post a photo of Drew when I hear of a hamstring injury. I have to shake that old habit.
It seems as if the luck of the Celtics has already rubbed off on the Red Sox, as Clay Buchholz injured his right hamstring on the first day of pitching workouts.
Farrell said the team will know more Wednesday but added, “it was enough...

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. "In the end, if I had been completely healthy when the season ended and we would have made a strong run at things … things didn't unfold that way so there were a bunch of question marks in everybody...
The BP First Take: Wednesday, January 25 by Daniel Rathman
Earlier this week, word began to spread about J.D. Drew hanging up his cleats. On Tuesday afternoon, Jon Heyman confirmed the retirement rumors. Just hours later, the story was an afterthought, thanks to Prince Fielder’s blockbuster deal with the Tigers.
If this is indeed the end for Drew, he will leave behind what, by most standards, is an excellent career. Over 1,566 big...
Report: J.D. Drew 'Very Likely to Retire'
It was pretty obvious that J.D. Drew's career with the Red Sox was over after he became a free agent following the 2011 season. Now, the 36-year-old could be hanging it up altogether. Drew is "very likely to retire," according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Drew was in the final season of a five-year, $70 million contract in 2011. He appeared in just 81 games for Boston...
