The Mets are only enlisting a “turnaround consultant” now? Where was this service in September 2007? August 2002? May 1993? June 1977? The Mets have definitely been in need of a few sharp 180s in their storied history. You’d figure they’d have a “turnaround consultant” on call 24/7.
The “turnaround” in question isn’t directly baseball-related, though...

Mets sign Wimberly and Stevens to MiLB
Adam Rubin reports that the Mets have signed RHP Jeff Stevens and Utility player Corey Wimberly to minor league deals. Both appear destine for Buffalo but Stevens did make it up for 10 appearances with the Cubs last year and Wimberly was a candidate for the Pirates bench out of spring training. Wimberly is a 27 y/o switch hitter who in seven minor league seasons carries a .297 BA...

According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the Mets have signed RHP Jeff Stevens and IF/OF Corey Wemberly to minor league contracts.

Mets Sign RHP Jeff Stevens, 2B Corey Wimberley to Minor League Deals
According to Adam Rubin, Baseball America is reporting the following:
Stevens, 28, has appeared in 33 games with the Cubs since 2009 and has a 6.27 ERA in 37.1 innings pitched.
Additionally, according to Andy Martino, the Mets’ recent signing of infielder Omar Quintanilla does not impact their pursuit of Jack Wilson or another backup shortstop.
