A New Thing for Antonelli

Joining a new organization is difficult for all players. Mid-season is even harder. Newly acquired Scranton/Wilkes-Barre utility man experienced this for the fist time. Matt Antonelli was designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles Triple-A team Norfolk Tides on May 13. He was signed by the New York Yankees four days later and assigned to SWB.

The Baltimore Orioles have signed Matt Antonelli to a Major League contract, the team announced today.  The news was first reported by Brittany Ghiroli on Twitter. The 26-year-old played 21 games for the Padres in 2008.  In 57 at-bats, he hit .193/.292/.281 with one home run and three RBI's.
