Buffalo imports star as Mets down Phils 6-3
There’s a lot of talk about how depth is important in Major League Baseball, but the notion rarely materializes so obviously as it did for the Mets during Tuesday night’s 6-3 win over the Phillies. With Ronny Cedeño and Ruben Tejada already unavailable even before Justin Turner hit the disabled list today with a sprained ankle, the Mets were forced to call up Omar Quintanilla...

Unlikely Heroes Push the Mets Past Phillies, 6-3
Omar Quintanilla. Jeremy Hefner. Scott Hairston. If someone told me prior to tonight’s game that those would be the names of the offensive stars of the night for the Mets, I’d have said this team was in danger of being swept tomorrow. But that isn’t the case, as the Mets are in position to take yet another series from the Phillies tomorrow on the strength on...

Roster Moves: Quintanilla, Schwinden, Turner, Acosta
The Mets will promote Omar Quintanilla and Chris Schwinden for Tuesday's game, with Quintanilla -- a former Rockie and Ranger -- expected to start at shortstop.
To clear roster room, the Mets are expected to designate Acosta (11.86 ERA) for assignment and place Turner on the disabled list.
Quintanilla fouled a ball off a foot Sunday, but played Monday for Triple-A Buffalo...

Mets Finally Cut Acosta As Turner Heads To DL, Schwinden and Quintanilla Called Up
Following Monday’s 8-4 loss to Philadelphia, the Mets made several roster moves:
After leaving the game with an apparent ankle injury, Justin Turner will be placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained ankle. To replace the replacement to the replacement for Ruben Tejada, the Mets have promoted infielder Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Buffalo to presumably be the everyday shortstop...

Roster Shakeup: Acosta, Schwinden, Quintanilla and What’s Next
Manny Acosta was finally DFA’d today as the Mets made some roster moves.
If you watched today’s game, the writing was on wall for Manny pretty much immediately. He came into the game with the Mets down a run and promptly gave up two hits and then some how struck out a batter. Then he gave up a three run bomb and the Mets were basically out of it from that point on. Acosta...

Bisons And B-Mets Both Win 7-6!
Buffalo 7, Charlotte 6
By Pete Shapiro
The Bisons hung on to win a nail-biter as SS Omar Quintanilla made a diving, sprawling catch in shallow left-field, with two-outs in the ninth and the tying run rounding third-base and on it’s way home. Had Quintanilla not made the spectacular play to stifle a two-out rally the game would have been tied up, instead the Herd held on to...

Mets continue to look for a backup shortstop
In case you were nervous that the signing of Omar Quintanilla, who hit .047 last season, would keep the New York Mets from pursuing Jack Wilson, or other back up shortstops, worry no more! That was a sarcastic explanation point as I doubt any of you were biting your nails. If you were, however, the good news is that a team source has indicated to Andy Martino of the Daily News...

Get Excited! Mets Sign Quintanilla!
According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com, here, the Mets have signed 30 year old utility infielder Omar Quintanilla to a minor league deal. Quintanilla finished serving a suspension for 50 games at the beginning of this season for violating the “minor league drug prevention and treatment program.” That doesn’t sound good.
Here’s what the Mets got in...
