Los Angeles Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo has been medically cleared to resume baseball activities. Trumbo had his rookie season curtailed after he suffered a broken bone in his right foot. The 26-year-old Trumbo batted .254 with 29 home runs and 87 RBIs, but he enters the season without a position after the Angels signed Albert Pujols to a 10-year contract in the offseason.

From Dan Martin:The Yankees agreed Wednesday to sign Russell Branyan to a minor-league deal with an invitation to major league spring training. The move does not impact the team’s chances of adding another lefty bat and it remains in the hunt for Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and Raul Ibanez. Trade Candidates – AL West Edition

By Bob Owens Let’s see how I will (un)settle the West. LA Angels of Anaheim – Peter Bourjos. Technically not my idea, as John mentioned him as a possibllity a week ago, and there have been rumors that he could goto Washington for some pitching. But the Angels seem to think Mike Trout is ready, and that makes Bourjos trade bait, and attractive trade bait at that. Oakland...

2012 Los Angeles Angels Catching Depth

By Robert Cunningham - AngelsWin.com Feature Writer Major league managers, coaches, and scouts always talk about the importance of pitching depth. However, and perhaps just as importantly, catching depth is also critical to a team’s success. Where are they now? Brian Downing

By Brian Waller - AngelsWin.com Feature Writer If I were to tell you that the Angels once traded for a scrawny catcher who in his first four seasons in Major League Baseball averaged only 6 HR’s and 34 RBI’s while hitting only .251, you would think the Halos re-acquired Jeff Mathis wouldn’t you? As good of a guess as that would have been, you would have been wrong. The Angel...

Angels' GM Jerry Dipoto corresponds with fans

ANAHEIM, CA-- Growing up in Dodger and Angel territory, I collected baseball cards, ticket stubs, photographs and programs; all the things baseball-crazed youngsters live for. I was a fanatic about the game. But I was never one of the kids who wrote a letter to a player or a GM asking for an autograph or asking a question. Many of my friends did and never saw the card(s) again,...

Should Mike Trout Hook A Starting Job?

Mike Trout is the catch of the day when it comes to center field prospects. After posting a gaudy .338/.422/.508 slash line in the minors, Trout made his big league debut this past season. Though his performance wasn’t all that impressive, Trout still has one of the highest ceilings of any prospect in baseball. But even though Trout no longer needs to prove himself in the minors...

Angels Depth a Problem ?

Whenever I read an article about Mike Trout, Vernon Wells, Bobby Abreu, Mark Trumbo or Kendrys Morales I?m bound to come across the same statement ?Having too much depth is a good problem to have.? Every time I read this sentence it makes me want to shake my laptop uncontrollably. I mean sure, that?s a lot of good/potentially good players for a few positions, but this is only healthy...
