Alex Pereira Shows Support For Ex-Opponent & Countryman Bruno Silva's Calls To Review Chris Weidman Loss

Brazil's Bruno Silva suffered his third consecutive loss in the UFC in Atlantic City but many felt he was hard done by.

His fight with former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman was defined by the multiple eye pokes that the Brazilian was forced to deal with.

It was initially stopped as a TKO win for Weidman but was later overturned to a technical decision after a double eye poke had led to the finishing sequence.

After beginning his run in the promotion with three consecutive finishes, the 34-year-old now finds himself with just one win in his last six, meaning that a loss to Weidman could have huge implications for his UFC tenure. 

Silva's statement about the fight was even supported by a fellow opponent of his who is set to main event UFC 300.

Silva spoke about the fight via Instagram, calling for the fight to be overturned as a no contest and suggesting it should have been scored as a draw at the time of the stoppage.

He believes that Weidman did not deserve to win the fight on a technical decision due to the way the fight ended and how competitive the bout was.

"This is a post I didn't want to make today. The world saw what happened yesterday. I'm a man when I lose and a man when I win, but what happened yesterday was very unfair and frustrating. I'm not in this sport for fame, but rather my story. 

"In the locker room before the fights, the referees always give the rules and make it very clear that the fighters have to close their hands or point their fingers up. The entire fight, [Weidman] had his fingers in my eye. Three times he stuck his finger in my eye and in the last one I fell in pain. The finger didn't just scrape, the video makes that very clear. The fight was even, in my opinion it was a draw. I just want the commission to review this result, and fair is fair."

"Poatan" defeated Silva in his second fight with the promotion in what was one of his toughest fights in MMA to date.
