A heavyweight shootout between Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (Pictured) Alistair Overeem was the third scrap to air live in Saturday’s “UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar” pay-per-view broadcast. The show is headlined by a featherweight superfight between champion Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar. Betting Line: Favorite (-) Underdog (+) Antonio Silva +250 Alistair Overeem -350 Here is the play-by-play from Overeem vs. Silva: 1stRound: Overeem charges the center of the Octagon. He lands a left hook to the body and goes in for the clinch. Overeem connects on an overhand right and knee to the midsection. Silva eating knees to the legs while they clinch against the fence. They separate and Silva throws a kick to the midsection, Overeem answers with a flurry and knee to the midsection. Overeem’s hands are down, he doesn’t seem fazed with Silva’s hands. The Dutchman cliches him against the cage again. Overeem nails him with an uppercut. 5thRound scored it: Overeem, 10-9. 2ndRound: Big leg kick by Bigfoot, but Overeem answers with a right hand. Oveereem gets a body lock and tosses him to the mat, landing in side control. Silva unloads a couple of nice elbows to the dome from off his back. Overeem working some good ground-and-pound. You can hear the thuds from Overeem’s punches throughout the arena. Silva has done nothing offensively in 10 minutes. They get to their feet and Silva finally scores his first significant strikes of the night. 5thRound scored it: Overeem, 10-9. 3rdRound: Silva comes out like a house on fire. He’s giving Overeem the business. Countless vicious punches to the dome and Overeem drops like a sack of potatoes. Game. Set. Match, Silva. What a rally! Silva circled back to talk smack over a battered Overeem. Referee Herb Dean had to pull him away.
