Charly Arnolt Becomes the UFC’s First Female Ring Announcer
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Sometimes, life has a way of opening doors for people. Whether it’s Bruce Buffer falling ill or somebody going down with an injury, there’s nothing more exciting than getting an opportunity. For Charly Arnolt, that opportunity came on Saturday, when she got to do the ring introductions.

Taking over Joe Martinez after he lost his voice, Arnolt read the decision for Karine Silva’s victory over Ariane Lipski. She also did the introductions for Bogdan Guskov and Ryan Spann, getting an electrifying experience at UFC Fight Night: Nicolau vs. Perez.

Cheryl Arnolt Makes History

After announcing in UFC Fight Night: Nicolau vs. Perez, Charly Arnolt became the first female UFC ring announcer in the promotion’s history. Even if it was for a couple of fights, Arnolt still has her name etched in the history books.

Some people will argue that the “history” motif is being overplayed to death. American society does tend to overkill certain things, after all. But female ring announcers aren’t anything new in promotions like the WWE. With the likes of Lillian Garcia and currently Samantha Irvin, it seems this will become the norm.

Now, it’s transcended to the UFC, which is ironically WWE’s TKO Holdings brethren. Paul Levesque must’ve whispered something into Dana White’s ear, making this happen.

What’s Next?

What’s next for Arnolt? The ring announcer probably will get more opportunities with Bruce Buffer getting older. The infamous UFC staple is 66 years old, so it’s expected he might ramp it down at some point. If that happens, expect to see more of the up-and-coming Arnolt.

There’s no denying that Charly Arnolt is destined for greater things. After all, she got to hang out with DJ Khaled. Therefore, she has some credibility to her name. But for now, Arnolt should cherish the moment, using it as a stepping stone for a future abundant with success.
