It was a special night for the UFC yesterday in St. Louis, Missouri when the promotion touched down for their third-ever fight card in the Gateway City. The night was packed with exciting knockouts and wild back-and-forth fights as the St. Louis fans packed the Enterprise Center for the largest Fight Night attendance gate in UFC history. Following the fights, UFC President Dana White also hinted at what the gate could be for the upcoming return of Conor McGregor. Check out our UFC news for more breaking content!

UFC St. Louis was headlined by none-other than “The Black Beast” Derrick Lewis, who added to his historic knockout record with a vicious KO over Brazil’s Rodrigo Nascimento. The Co-Main Event saw hometown fighter Joaquin Buckley put together an impressive decision-win over Nursulton Ruziboev, who was riding a 10-fight winning streak.

Despite the non-stop action that resulted in five finished, reporters couldn’t help but address the looming Conor McGregor fight during Dana Whit’s post-fight press conference. McGregor is set to face Michael Chandler in his return on June 29, 2024 at UFC 303 from Las Vegas.

The UFC has yet to surpass the $20 million mark in terms of gate sales for a Pay-Per-View event, but the return of “Mystic Mac” is already rumored to top the line. Already holding the three highest-grossing events in history, we could be looking at the biggest UFC gate ever at UFC 303. Following UFC St. Louis, Dana White confirmed that the number has already been topped, months ahead of the June 29 card.

The saga between McGregor and Chandler began when the two served as head coaches in the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. Following a number of obstacles with McGregor’s recovery, the USADA saga, and McGregor’s business outside of the cage, fans were skeptical this fight would ever actually happen. However, after a recent “coming out” by Conor McGregor and an interview with UFC’s Megan Olivi, the pride of Ireland is determined to end his return in spectacular fashion.

While Dana White is no stranger to hyping up a fight, his confirmation of the $20 million rumors could be on the money as the UFC has seen increasing popularity over the last few cards. The latest Fight Night gate record in St. Louis is a clear indication that major U.S. cities are starved for UFC events and the return of their biggest star ever could blow all the gate records out of the water.

Tune in to UFC 303 on June 29 to see the return of Conor McGregor as he faces one of the most electric athletes in the sport with Michael Chandler. With the gate already surpassing the UFC record, it’ll be interesting to see how high it sets the bar and if it will ever broken in the future.
