Former UFC Champion Chris Weidman Set to Face Feared Brazilian Slugger In Atlantic City

Chris Weidman will not be retiring yet, as he'll be back inside the UFC Octagon this spring.

Following his unanimous decision loss against Brad Tavares back in August, many wondered what the future would hold for the "All American." Even UFC CEO Dana White expressed his desire to see Weidman retire.

Nonetheless, the former UFC champion pushes forward.

Laerte Viana was the first to report news of Weidman's return to the Octagon. In the report, it was revealed that verbal agreements are in place for Chris Weidman to do battle with Bruno Silva on March 30. The bout is reportedly set to take place at UFC Atlantic City, but it hasn't been signed at this time.

Silva has lost his last two outings, so he'll be looking to snap that skid at the expense of Weidman. After defeating Brad Tavares back in April, Silva suffering a first-round submission loss to surging 185-pounder Brendan Allen. "Blindado" then dropped a unanimous decision against Sharabutdin Magomedov.

Weidman is in search of his first victory since 2020. Having gone 2-7 in his last nine fights and nearing the age of 40, time is running out on Weidman to make a statement and prove he still belongs in the fight game. Another loss and the UFC may either force a retirement, or let Weidman go depending on his performance.

If Weidman is to be successful, he'll need to keep in mind the punching power of Silva. The Brazilian bruiser has 20 KO/TKO victories.

Time will tell if this is yet another sad result for Chris Weidman, or if he has another good win left in him.
