Tell me if you’ve heard this tale before: An athlete gets busted for using a banned substance. The athlete denies that he knowingly took anything illegal and blames an unnamed supplement. Well, that’s Joey Beltran’s (Pictured) story and he’s sticking to it. The light heavyweight took to Twitter hours after the UFC suspended him nine months for testing positive for the anabolic steroid Nandrolone. “I can say without a shadow of a doubt I did not inject Nandrolone into my body,” Beltran professed. “I am sorry to my family and friends for the shame this brought to any of you. I promise soon the whole story will be told and I will go through whatever is necessary to find the reason for this positive test. “I am at fault for taking a supplement or perhaps combination of something that caused my test result. My team and I will seek the truth. I am sorry once again and truly apologize to the people that matter the most to me.” Beltran posted a unanimous decision win over Igor Pokrajac at “UFC on FX 6.” The December victory will likely be overturned to a no contest. Desperate times calls for desperate measures. Beltran had dropped five of his last seven bouts prior to meeting Pokrajac in Australia. The “Mexicutioner” joins Rousimar Palhares, Thiago Silva, Dave Herman and Stephan Bonnar on the failed drug test list since October.
