Manon Fiorot's Approach Against Erin Blanchfield Questioned Despite Dominant UFC Fight Night Win: 'She's Gonna Have To Get Out Of That Mindset!'

Manon Fiorot extended her UFC winning streak to seven this past weekend by getting her hand raised in Atlantic City.

Fans were excited to see two of the top women's flyweight contenders clash in the main event of what ended up being a one-sided contest.

Unable to get the fight to the floor, Erin Blanchfield was forced into a striking contest with Fiorot, where she struggled to compete against the French fighter.

Despite winning all five rounds on each of the judges' scorecards, this wasn't a dominant performance that was left without any notes to take away. Some felt like Fiorot could have tried to put the stamp on this performance by letting her strikes go a bit more to push for the finish.

'Big' John McCarthy Says Fiorot's Style Could Leave Her Open To Being Finished

Fiorot opened up her UFC account with back-to-back finishes over Victoria Leonardo and Tabatha Ricci, but those were her most recent stoppage wins inside the Octagon.

Since June 2021, all her fights have gone to the scorecards and though she's beaten several top contenders in this run, her style has been compared to point fighting.

The effectiveness of Fiorot's striking goes without saying, but on the Weighing In podcast, "Big" John McCarthy said that she might need to break this habit.

Anything can happen in MMA and when you're competing against the best in the world, not pulling the trigger when there's an opportunity to do so can quickly come back to bite you.

"There was times where she could have opened up, and instead of opening up and going after the next volume of combinations that were available for her to go after, she backed off. It looked like she was just saying, 'I'm gonna score points.' It's like a point karate tournament, which is where she kinda came from, and she's going to have to get out of that mindset.

"Even someone that's not having the greatest night like Erin Blanchfield as far as being successful with her techniques and her game plan of what she's going to do, all it takes is one shot to put you on the deck and then she's on top of you and then you're out."
