Last night the UFC announced on their official twitter account that Rich Franklin and Cung Le will be added to UFC 148, which will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 7, 2012.
Franklin(28-6), who hasn’t fought since his loss in February 2011 against Forrest Griffin, is leaving the light heavyweight division and heading back to where he dominated prior in his career to the middleweight division. The only person to ever beat Franklin at middleweight was the current champion, Anderson Silva.
Le(7-2) fought last November against Wanderlei Silva in a back and forth match which he lost via TKO to the “Axe Murderer” in the second round. This will be his UFC debut and he will be looking to prove himself. He will be 40 years old by the time of the fight, so he isn’t getting any younger. Franklin will be the toughest fight of his career thus far. Le will have to confuse and dominate the stand up if he wants to win. Franklin, who is a brown belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, will be looking to take the match to the ground to dominate. This should be a very intense match!
