Sean O'Malley Reacts To Chris Weidman's Controversial Win Over Bruno Silva: '39 Years Old, 30 Surgeries... That's Insane Dude!'
Craig Kidwell-USA TODAY Sports

UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O'Malley recently weighed in on Chris Weidman's victory over Bruno Silva.

Over the weekend, at UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield vs. Fiorot, "The All-American" picked up his first victory in the Octagon in nearly four years. Weidman TKO'd Silva midway through round three. However, due to Silva being on the receiving end of eye pokes, the result was overturned and surprisingly ruled as a technical decision.

Considering that eye pokes are illegal, the result has garnered considerable controversy in the MMA world.

'You See The Third Eye Poke?' - Sean O'Malley On Weidman vs. Silva

During a recent edition of the TimboSugarShow, O'Malley weighed in on the Weidman controversy. While he acknowledged it was likely a feel-good moment for the veteran, the manner in which he won detracts from the matter.

However, O'Malley also agreed with Weidman's take on the result. "The All-American" suggested that even with eye pokes and being foulled, combatants need to continue fighting.

"I'm sure that felt good for Weidman to win," O'Malley said. "Winning in that fashion, like, you see the third eye poke? I agree with Weidman what he said, you can't fall to the ground like that."

O'Malley later noted Weidman's age and the staggering number of surgeries he's had over the years. Unfortunately for "The All-American," it appears the procedures and resultant stress might have caught up to him, with O'Malley noting difficulties in the 185lber's movement.

"39 years old, 30 surgeries, that is insane dude," O'Malley said. "He looked 39 to 30 surgeries, though, I just, like, the way he moved... But who do they give him next? Like, does he keep fighting, like, top guys?"
