'So Obsessed With Trying To Downplay Israel Adesanya’s HOF Worthy Career?' - MMA Fans Called Out For Criticizing Jamahal Hill Working With 'Izzy' Ahead Of UFC 300

In the build-up to UFC 300, a lot has been made about the narrative going into the fight between Jamahal Hill and Alex Pereira.

Hill, who later vacated the title due to injury, became the light heavyweight champion by defeating Pereira's close friend and training partner, Glover Teixeira.

With "Poatan" going on to win the vacant title at UFC 295, "Sweet Dreams" has been enlisting some help of his own in order to gain a better understanding of his opponent.

Pereira has competed against Israel Adesanya four times in total, twice in kickboxing and twice inside the Octagon.

As the only man to have beaten the light heavyweight champion in the UFC, "The Last Stylebender" seemingly jumped on a call with Hill to chat about April 13.

MMA Fans Debate Hill's Decision To Speak With Adesanya During Preparations For Pereira

A lot of MMA fans responded on social media to this news by criticizing Hill's decision to pick the brain of Adesanya before he faces off with Pereira.

Whilst the former middleweight champion may have beaten "Poatan" the last time they met at UFC 287, he lost their previous three encounters.

"'So yea just lose to him 5/6 times, and in that one win, you are getting dominated until you land a lucky counter after he puts his hands down with 0 respect for you, that’s all you have to do'"

"Hey izzy how can I get a fluke ko win like you did"

Some fans however, saw the value in Hill speaking to someone that has more experience competing against his upcoming opponent than anybody else.

DJ MurkCity on X came back at the people that made fun of this update, stating why this holds value for Hill in preparing for the fight and saying that fans are using revisionist history when looking back at Adesanya's career.

"1st fight - Izzy should've won on points.

2nd fight - Izzy was winning till he got caught late

3rd fight - Izzy was winning till he got caught late

4th fight - Izzy KO'd him in the 2nd

Why are MMA fans so obsessed with trying to downplay Israel Adesanya's HOF worthy career?"

He continued to expand on his thoughts about the unfair criticism of Adesanya, rounding it out with this final thought.

"And for the clueless, I’m an Izzy & Alex fan. Have been since they were kickboxers & most of yall didn’t even know who they were. But somebody gotta keep it real wit yall. Appreciate the legendary rivalry for what it is… legendary. Appreciate greatness on both sides"
