Found April 03, 2012 on Illegal Elbows:

I opened up Mixed Martial Arts Dot TV and I saw the headline such as Greg Jackson corners Jones over Evans. Dana White responding to Brock signing to WWE, and hes happy. However thing I saw I loved was Sapp vs. Pudzianowski booked for May in Poland. Guess what kids it’s on and it’s going to be a HUGE freak show. What the hell is to be gained here for the MMA fan in general? Is this a good idea or bad idea? Each guy whether it’s Sapp or Pudzianowski is going to be a tough guy to face, and frankly all the MMA fans in the closet blogging on you tube{Yes someone actually says that phrase}

Marius Pudzianowski is the former Worlds Strongest man and he became an MMA star after he walked away from Strongman. Marius is moved from Strongman to MMA in 2009 and he has had a lot of success. He has become a national hero in his native Poland and he continues to fight there and he has become a great fighter and none the less have taken a lot of flack from MMA fans around the world. However as anyone knows, no one wants to take a pounding from this guy in a gym or on the mat or in the ring. Marius coming in to fight Sapp is going to be a freak show but could be a big win for Marius

Bob Sapp is the former NFL and Tough man champion, Sapp has taken some flack over the years for his pay check fighter status. Sapp is no stranger to the world of MMA and he has become a joke on the net in MMA circles, but once again cause he is a big joke, you do not want that BEAST coming running at your ass in a ring. Sapp going into this match could be a way to get his win record back on track. Sapp could make this a spring board to coming back into MMA and maybe set up a match with people like Butter bean and others in the MMA world.

Whats the point here to having this match? Really are we going to see a technical match, no we will not. Sapp is way past his prime and Marius is the man when it comes to Strongman but can he really take it to the next level as far as MMA goes? The match is a typical freak show match-up but it gives Marius a Chance to be the man in his home country and get his name back on track. I could see Maroiuz facing off with Tank Abbott and maybe someone like Kimbo Slice at some point if they give Kimbo enough cash Hell maybe a Ken Shamrock match with Marius could generate some money for both sides and the Polish people love MMA and they would support any of the above matches I mentioned.

Bad idea is this , as Yoda would say. I think this is bad idea reason being is no one here wins on this except maybe the polish promoters. If Sapp wins, Marius gets his butt kicked by a guy in his home country who ain’t really worth a damn. If Sapp loses then it does not get Maroiuz over and he really can not hang his hat on a huge win here. If Sapp wins this may become a way for him to make a comeback but after the years of abuse he can not go on and have a huge run some where. If Marius wins where does that put him, he could face Tank but once again he keeps padding his record with matches it over the hill dudes.

Good idea for the polish people to book this match but it could also be a good idea for Sapp and Marius, Marius is the man in his country and he could use this as a way to generate more money and more traffic to Poland for MMA. Imagine if Poland had another match that would draw interest here. If Sapp wins or loses he still gets his name out there and that’s not a bad thing. Sapp could use this as a way to get back on track and get some pay days down the line and if Marius wins this and does it big time, he could use this as a name guy to get over on and get more matches wither in Poland or outside of the home country.

My view on this match-up is simple, if Sapp wins this he can use this as a stepping stone to get back into some money matches. If Marius wins here he can do much of the same thing Most people who are hardcore MMA fans will not watch this match due to it’s factor of it being a freak show. Others in the sport will watch it for it’s pure entertainment value. I think the world of MMAS needs this stuff every once in a while. Pride FC always provides some cool matches like this but now with Pride being gone, you have nothing to appeal to the closet pro wrestling slash MMA fan. The world of MMA is full of matches such as this and it continues to be because people go see them and watch them on Pay Per View.
