Jake Ellenberger (pictured) made Nate “The Great” Marquardt look not so great at UFC 158. After exchanging fire early, Ellenberger added to his expanding highlight reel collecting by putting Marquardt to sleep on Saturday night.
“The Juggernaut” dropped him with a vicious left-right combo and continued his assault on the canvas. One nasty right to the dome and Marquardt was face planted on the mat.
Marquardt tried to protest the stoppage, but it was pretty clear he was out.
The victory was the most impressive of Ellenberger’s young career, but unfortunately it won’t land him a title fight. UFC president Dana White awarded Johny Hendricks with next dibs at champion Georges St-Pierre’s crown.
UFC 158 took place Saturday inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
