Chael Sonnen (pictured) certainly knows how to talk the talk, but on Saturday night he walked the walk – and then, of course, he talked the talk again.
To the surprise of nobody, Sonnen immediately charged Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and planted him on his back within 10 seconds. After some back-and-forth action, Sonnen slapped on a guillotine choke and pulled guard to secure the lock.
After doing his best to fight free, Shogun was ultimately forced to cry uncle at the 4:47 mark in the opening round.
Sonnen also took home an extra $50,000 for “Submission of the Night.”
During his post-fight celebratory speech, Sonnen put on his WWE cap and proceeded to call out Wanderlei Silva in true Chael P. fashion.
“UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen” took place inside TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dana White instigated the media rankings, as the sport needed a standardization of said ranks, and now he completely disagrees with them before they can even be adjusted after Chael’s impressive win last night. Oh, Dana.
Either way, this is what he said last night at the post-fight scrum.
“Plus the whole ‘He’s all talk‘ thing is just so crazy, I mean people write stories...

(via Getty Image)Chael Sonnen is brash, bold, loud-mouthed, hyperbolic, arrogant and plenty of other adjectives, and he’s already won every fight that he’s ever been in weeks before the fight even happens. And despite the fact that he loses the fights that matter and has never won a title, Sonnen just keeps on talking trash like nothing ever happened. Basically, he’s the Philadelphia...
