Newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis called out UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo after his win over Benson Henderson at UFC 164 last night. It looks like the brakes need to be pumped a little bit on that for now.
During the UFC 164 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White said that Pettis’s knee popped during the fight.
“Anthony’s knee popped in the fight,” White said. “So I don’t know what’s going to happen. No sense in even talking about another fight right now.”
Pettis had a limp while walking to the stage and told reporters how the knee actually popped out and stated he will get the knee looked it in the coming days.
“Henderson threw a kick and I went to check with my left leg, and he hit like right in the crook in the knee,” Pettis said. “I felt it go back and forth and I stepped on it, it was hurting a lit bit, when he had me against the cage I was going to put my leg down because it was starting to lock up.
