An already stacked UFC on FOX 5 card gets another boost with the announcement on Monday of four additional bouts to the December 8th card. Joining the action will be a heavyweight clash between Lavar Johnson and Brendan Schaub, as well as, a welterweight showdown between Mike Swick and Matt Brown.
Knockout artists Schaub (8-3) and Johnson (17-6) will both look to get back in the win column after setbacks in their most recent bouts. Schaub, an Ultimate Fighter 10 veteran, has suffered knockout losses to Ben Rothwell and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Prior to the skid, Schaub had won four straight including victories over Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Gabriel Gonzaga. Johnson will hope to rebound from a submission loss to Stefan Struve at UFC 146. Johnson, a Strikeforce import, notched knockout wins over Pat Barry and Joey Beltran in his first two UFC bouts.
Swick (14-5) returned to the UFC after a two-plus year absence with an incredible knockout win over DaMarques Johnson at UFC on FOX 4. Swick, an Ultimate Fighter 1 alumni, holds wins over Ben Saunders, Joe Riggs, and Marcus Davis. Brown (15-11) will enter the bout riding a three fight winning streak. He last competed at UFC on FX 4 where he scored a second round technical knockout of Luis Ramos.
Two lightweight bouts previously scheduled for the cancelled UFC 151 have found a home at UFC on FOX 5. Daron Cruickshank will take on Henry Martinez while Tim Means will square of against Abel Trujillo.
UFC on FOX 5 takes place from the KeyArena in Seatle, Washington. The event features lightweight champion Ben Henderson defending his title against Nate Diaz. In addition, Alexander Gustafsson meets Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in a key light heavyweight bout and BJ Penn takes on Rory MacDonald in a welterweight bout.
