The driver of the #9 Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports sat on the pole at Michigan with alap north of 203 mph and led early in the contest before finishing 9th. It marked the second top-10 in three races for the Australian born driver who has only one finish lower then 14th in his last six starts. Ambrose heads to the road course in Sonoma, California, this weekend fresh off the first pole of his Sprint Cup career. Last year Ambrose qualified 8th for Sonoma and finished 5th.
