No, she was on fire, turning the fastest lap in yesterday’s practice sessions a week before the season-opening Daytona 500, “The Great American Race.” Can Danica Patrick hot enough to get pole position for the NASCAR season opener? Patrick was nearly a second faster than the other drivers Saturday.
The front row for the Feb. 24 Daytona 500 will be set in Sunday’s time trials. The rest of the field is set next Thursday after a pair of qualifying races.
“Everything that we do is to make sure that we do whatever we can to be on the pole,” Patrick told the AP. “That is what we all are shooting for.”
Patrick hopes her Stewart-Haas Racing team can secure places in the field on Sunday.
