Jimmie Johnson won the STP Gas Booster 500 on Sunday at Martinsville Speedway finishing ahead of Clint Bowyer at the shortest track on the NASCAR circuit.
Johnson led the field to the green flag but Marcos Ambrose got around him to lead the first lap of the race. It was not long before Johnson retook the top spot.
The first caution would come on lap 15 when Danica Patrick spun out while racing along side Ken Schrader. A wreck on lap 180 damaged at-least ten cars and forced Martin Truex to the garage for repairs.
In a race filled with beating and bumping on lap 466 Brian Vickers bumped Patrick into Dale Earnahrdt Jr. Subsequently Earnhardt spun and then lost a lap when teammate Jimmie Johnson passed him after the caution came out.
Late in the race Kurt Busch lost his brakes and his car became engulfed in flames. After a red flag Johnson led all the remaining laps.
