JRM WECOMES BACK CANADIAN TIRE - Canadian Tire returns to the No. 5 Chevrolet for its third year of partnership with JR Motorsports and driver Ron Fellows. The retailer will be primary sponsor of the No. 5 at Watkins Glen International and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Canadian Tire is the largest automotive retailer in Canada with more than 480 stores.

IMPECCABLE STATS - Fellows has enjoyed immense success in NNS competition at Watkins Glen. He has three victories in 11 starts with five top-fives, eight top-10s and 189 laps led. He still holds the distinction of being the senior victor at the facility, winning at the age of 41 years, nine months and 10 days old on July 8, 2001. Additionally, he is tied with Marcos Ambrose for second on the all-time NNS wins list at The Glen with three victories to his credit.

A NATURAL AT THE GLEN - In addition to Fellows’ impressive career stats at Watkins Glen, he has one top-five and three top-10 finishes in his three races driving for JR Motorsports. Over the past three years of competition at the track, Fellows holds respective finishes of fifth, sixth and seventh, giving the Canadian native an average finish of 6.0.

TOPPING THE CHART IN GREEN-FLAG PASSES - Fellows is ranked first at Watkins Glen in the green-flag passes category with 277, according to NASCAR Statistical Services. The green-flag pass category tracks the number of passes a driver completes under green-flag conditions over the past seven races at a respective track. Fellows has completed 45 more passes than the second-place competitor.

DANICA IMPRESSIVE IN LAST ROAD RACE - Patrick was a frontrunner from the drop of the green flag at Road America in June, piecing together a strong outing in the No. 7 Chevrolet. She was racing hard for fourth position on the final lap when Jacques Villeneuve made contact with Patrick’s bumper, sending the Go Daddy Chevrolet careening off course and into a gravel trap, deflating her solid effort and relegating the team to a 12th-place finish.

WHITT’S 2012 LAP PERCENTAGE - Whitt is ranked sixth on the list of Nationwide Series regulars in laps completion percentage for 2012. The rookie has completed 3,503 of 3,570 laps on the year, leading to a completion percentage of 98.12.

FELLOWS AND POPS COMBO - Fellows and veteran crew chief Tony Eury Sr. are off to a solid start after racing to a third place finish in their most recent outing Road America. This weekend they’ll compete in their second of three scheduled races in 2012. The duo also worked together in 2010, racing the No. 88 Chevrolet to one top-five and two top-10 finishes in three races. Their average finish together in four events is 10.3.

FELLOWS IN NNS COMPETITION - Fellows’ Nationwide Series history goes back 15 years to 1997. In his 22 career races, he scored four wins, 10 top five, and 13 top-10 finishes. Fellows earned two poles, led 219 laps, and had an average finish of 14.4.

Cole Whitt on Watkins Glen: “We have our work cut out for us with back-to-back road races on the schedule. Our TaxSlayer team is ready for the challenge, though. We were happy to come out of Road America with a top 10 back in June. I wasn’t sure what to expect heading into that race, so it was a decent finish. I’ve found that even when you’re doing your best to stay out of trouble at these places, it has a way of finding you sometimes. “Our biggest hurdle at Road America was going to the backup car. We had some damage and just decided to play it safe and swap to the backup. That’s actually the car we’re racing this weekend. It was pretty quick and we were happy with it. We know we have a car capable of a top 10, and if we play our cards right, a top five isn’t out of the question either.”

Danica Patrick on Watkins Glen:  “After the race Road America, (ran top-five all day before last-lap incident with Jacques Villeneuve) I’m looking forward to turning right again. I feel like Watkins Glen has a lot of the same rhythm as Elk-hart. It’s a little smaller, but we’ll just take it one corner at a time. I’ve been there before and driven the full circuit. The short circuit won’t offer any new corners. “I feel like we have the ability to buckle down and do some good stuff the next few weeks. It’s definitely an interesting mindset for me, to be looking forward to road courses, since that was part of why I wanted to leave IndyCar. A lot of the NASCAR drivers don’t have a lot of experience on road courses. IndyCar had a lot of focus on road racing, so that type of racing is where I came from.”

Ron Fellows on Watkins Glen: “We’re heading into this weekend looking to win. It’s as simple as that. The expectations are high, and I feel really good about it. We had a strong car at Road America and that’s the same car we have for this weekend. I have always had great success at the Glen. It’s a track that suites my driving style. It’s like a second home for me, and I’m really looking for-ward to it. “This is the third year we’ve been able to partner with Canadian Tire. I’m excited to represent them. We also have a great promotion going on with the Fellows 5 Challenge. Fans can log on to and test their racing knowledge. We’ll be giving away a bunch of fun prizes for the winners, including an all-expenses paid trip to my driving school in Las Vegas.”
